HOME COMING OF YOUR FLEET

HOME COMINGOFYOUR FLEET

In 2021, YOUR FLEET returned to its roots!

Just like YOUR SUMMER FLEET in 2018, the 2021 edition was exclusively available to residents of Mierendorff-ISLAND and the Klausenerplatz neighbourhood. Compared to the 2018 edition, YOUR FLEET 2021 was a major success.

To allow more residents from other Charlottenburg neighbourhoods to participate, the campaign was extended from January until the end of April 2022.

Participants had the opportunity to explore a wide range of mobility options.

Equipped with vouchers worth over €500 from 16 sharing providers active in Berlin, they could choose their preferred mode of transport – from free-floating and station-based car-sharing to e-scooter sharing, (e-)bikes, cargo bikes, and Berlin’s public transit network (BVG).

Our Project Partners at a Glance:

E-Scooter sharing: Voi, Bolt, Lime, emmy, Bird
Bike sharing: fLotte Berlin, Donkey Republic, nextbike, Lime
Public transport: BVG

Station-based car sharing: cambio, greenwheels, stadtmobil

Free floating car sharing: SHARE NOW, WeShare, SIXT, MILES

Onboarding our Participants

Before embarking on their mobility adventure, participants were invited to a series of kick-off events providing all essential information about the test month. These briefing sessions were held in small groups in compliance with COVID-19 hygiene measures.

Participants were introduced to the project and received a briefing on their mobility package.

Prior to starting, they had to meet the formal requirements (valid ID, driving licence, vehicle registration) and, on the first day of their personal mobility month, submit a photo of their car’s current mileage along with their car keys to the organisers.

After completing the online pre-survey, participants received voucher booklets for shared vehicles and BVG tickets to begin their month of exploring alternative mobility options.

YOUR FLEET as guest on radio eins

As was the case with DF’20, radio eins accompanied our mobility campaign in the programme Die Sonntagsfahrer. Rolf Mienkus (INSEL-PROJEKT.BERLIN) provided insights into what the Flottler*innen can expect in 2021. Dr. Gabriele Wendorf from the Centre for Technology and Society (ZTG) presented a scientific interim assessment. And our DF’21 participants shared their experiences during the DF’21 mobility month.

Lars:

“I am completely satisfied with my mobility month. The YOUR FLEET 2021 initiative confirmed for me that living without a private car is entirely possible.”

Svenja:

“Honestly, we don’t really need our own car. It just takes up space, loses value, and generates high costs.”

Leon:

“Having all these mobility options available, almost like a subscription, felt so progressive and liberating.”

In our photo story series, we interviewed some of our YOUR FLEET 2021 participants about their experiences during the mobility month.

    • How did a month without a private car impact their daily lives?
    • Which modes of transport were the most popular?
    • What are their key takeaways from YOUR FLEET 2021?
    • Did any participants decide to give up their car after the initiative?

THE RESULTS

Once again this year, we surveyed the participants using online questionnaires both before and after the campaign phase to gather their mobility experiences with YOUR FLEET’21. Our participants answered questions regarding everyday practicality, their preferred means of transport, and the usability and operation of the mobility services.

In total, 30 participants commenced the mobility month. All of our participants successfully completed the mobility campaign, and 27 participants successfully completed both the pre- and post-surveys.
