NEW MOBILIST

MARTIN BURTH (59), Klausenerplatz-Kiez
- Father of three children
- Owns Opel family car
- Annual mileage: max. 8.000 km
- Usage: bulk purchase once a month

CHALLENGE

"If the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district is setting up a car sharing car park within 50 meters of my apartment, I will deregister my car!"

APPROACH

In the autumn of 2017, the new car sharing act takes effect and allows municipalities to redesign parking spaces for alternative forms of use. Oliver Schruoffeneger, city district councillor for urban development, construction and environment in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, wants to use the possibilities thus created to reward those who abolish their car (and many other neighbours) in a 1:1 trade with a car sharing parking lot.

NEW MOBILIST

ANDREA KASTENS-P. (49), Klausenerplatz-Kiez/Mierendorff-INSEL
- Mother of two children
- Abolished her family car
- Alternate products: bicycle, rental electro cargo bicycle (NMB)
- Use: way to work, transport of dog + small loads

CHALLENGE

CHALLENGE
"As an allotment holder on the Mierendorff-ISLAND with a place of residence at Sophie-Charlotte-Platz, I actually do relieve two districts due to my abolished car. For short distances I rent the cargo e-bike, which was provided as part of the project NEUE MOBILITÄT BERLIN. For weekend trips to Berlin's hinterland I use car sharing.

I WOULD LIKE A GREATER OFFER ON VARIOUS VEHICLES I CAN RESORT TO ACCORDING TO REQUIREMENTS!"

APPROACH

Since May 2017, the research project "Distribute - green supply chains in the neighbourhood for the city of tomorrow" has been running at TU Berlin. Publicly sponsored by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the steadily increasing freight transport is increasingly being shifted from trucks to electro cargo bicycles in the two pilot quarters Mierendorff-ISLAND and Klausenerplatz-Kiez within the next three years. During times in which the vehicles are not used for deliveries, traders as well as residents can rent them.

NEW MOBILIST

ROLF MIENKUS (49), Mierendorff-ISLAND
- Father of two children
- Has abolished a Ford Focus Tournament at the end of 2016
- Annual mileage: max. 6000 km
- Use: trips to the surrounding area, transport of paddle boats, annual leave

CHALLENGE

"When not using my own car I drive a car with far more awareness. Most likely I book a car sharing vehicle for bigger loads or further distances. Most of my everyday trips I do by bicycle or LARS, the rental electro cargo bicycle.

What is still missing for me is an app, by which I can see, book and settle the offers of all mobility service providers! "

APPROACH

In order to get an overview of most of the mobility services, it is worth taking a look at the VBB live map. Here you can track the movements of all public transport, regional and long-distance transport in Berlin and Brandenburg, as well as the availability of car and bike sharing. Parking lots including park & ride and taxis can also be conveniently located with the browser-based application.

For the actual rent of sharing vehicles, there are apps such as Free2Move. In addition, you can log on to several companies, book centrally, as well as settle in part via the app.
